Flood alert for Coast at North Morecambe Bay

High tides on Wednesday 4 February may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from 1200 to 1500 on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths along the coast at North Morecambe Bay from Roosebeck to Carnforth, including low lying areas around Ulverston, Greenodd, Haverthwaite, Flookburgh, Grange-over-Sands, Levens, Milnthorpe, Sandside, Arnside and Silverdale.
The high tide at 0045 on Wednesday 4 February is not forecast to meet Flood Alert thresholds. However the following high tide at 1300 on Wednesday 4 February is forecast to meet the Flood Alert threshold at Sandside and Arnside.
We are checking flood defences and closely monitoring the situation.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and car parks which may be at flood risk.
